Fundraising and Having Fun

RP Fighting Blindness relies entirely on voluntary donations, we do not receive any public money to support our work. This section tells you a little about our fundraising activities and how you might get involved.

Use the links on the left to learn about some of our fun events, from sponsored walks to marathons, from trekking in the desert to leaping from airplanes.

If you are planning fundraising activities on our behalf, please contact us for tips, materials, T-shirts and so on.

Please do ensure you have the right permissions for any event you organise. Contact us for advice.

Lots of tips about fundraising can be found at the 'raisingfunding' website link below as well.

Collecting sponsorship for RP Fighting Blindness the easy way.

Option 1: Traditional Sponsorship Forms (Available from the office in hard copy or electronically)
Option 2: www.justgiving.com
They process donations and reclaim Gift Aid for their member charities, and charge a small fee for their service. It works like this:
•When you donate £10 on our site, we send 100% to the charity by the end of the week.
•We reclaim Gift Aid from the government, which takes about a month, adding £2.82 to your donation.
•It’s only when we receive the Gift Aid that we charge our 5% fee, along with credit/debit card/PayPal charges, and send the rest to the charity. If you are not a UK taxpayer and we can’t reclaim Gift Aid, our fee comes out of your donation. Since over 85% of donations through JustGiving are eligible for Gift Aid, our charities always end up raising more with us.
•So, for every £10 you give as a UK taxpayer, the charity receives almost £12, and they get it much faster than they would otherwise.

Option 3: www.virginmoneygiving.com
So how does Virgin Money Giving make everyone better off? Well…
•Fundraisers and donors can be 100% confident that the company they’re dealing with isn’t making a profit on their donation and that more of their hard-earned cash is going to the cause they’re passionate about.
•Charities get to know they’re paying the lowest fees Virgin Money Giving is able to offer (because the business isn’t run for profit) and that they’re given the tools and information that means they can run more effective fundraising campaigns.
•And Virgin Money, who have invested millions of pounds in getting the website up and running, benefits because more people know a little bit about them and what they do – something that never does any harm in business.
•So it’s really very simple. Because we’re not-for-profit we only charge charities the minimum fees needed to cover our running costs. That’s a single start-up fee of £100 + VAT from each charity and 2% of donations. Gift Aid is reclaimed from the Government and passed to charities in full. Fundraisers and their sponsors don’t pay a penny to use our website.
